En el marco de la agenda internacional en Washington, la delegación del Gobierno entrante liderada por el vicepresidente electo José Manuel Restrepo sostuvo una reunión con el secretario de Energía de Estados Unidos, Chris Wright, y su equipo, para abrir una nueva etapa de cooperación, confianza e inversión en materia energética.
Durante el encuentro se abordaron las preocupaciones generadas por la parálisis de proyectos energéticos y de inversión en Colombia durante los últimos años, así como la necesidad de avanzar hacia una transición energética responsable, que aproveche de manera sostenible la riqueza natural del país y garantice energía limpia, asequible y suficiente para las familias, las empresas y la competitividad nacional.
El Gobierno entrante trabajará en proyectos estratégicos para fortalecer la seguridad energética, enfrentar los retos del fenómeno de El Niño, reactivar la exploración de gas y atraer inversión estadounidense que contribuya a garantizar un suministro confiable y el crecimiento económico del país.

Incoming government advances an energy cooperation agenda with the United States in Washington
Washington – July 16, 2026.
As part of the international agenda in Washington, the incoming government delegation, led by Vice President-elect José Manuel Restrepo, held a meeting with United States Secretary of Energy Chris Wright and his team to open a new stage of cooperation, trust, and investment in the energy sector.
During the meeting, the concerns arising from the paralysis of energy and investment projects in Colombia over the past few years were addressed, as well as the need to move toward a responsible energy transition that sustainably harnesses the country’s natural wealth and guarantees clean, affordable, and sufficient energy for families, businesses, and national competitiveness.
The incoming government will work on strategic projects to strengthen energy security, address the challenges posed by the El Niño phenomenon, reactivate gas exploration, and attract U.S. investment to help ensure a reliable energy supply and the country’s economic growth.
