Los Ministros de Agricultura de la República Oriental del Uruguay y de la República de Colombia, Estados Miembros de la Comunidad de Estados Latinoamericanos y Caribeños (CELAC), se permiten comunicar:
1 . En el marco de la II Conferencia Internacional de Reforma Agraria y Desarrollo Rural ICARRD+20, se desarrolló en Cartagena la reunión de Ministros de Agricultura de la CELAC cuyo objetivo fue reafirmar los compromisos regionales entorno a la seguridad alimentaria, la nutrición, la erradicación del hambre y el derecho humano a la alimentación.
2 . Así mismo, se realizó el traspaso de la Presidencia Pro Tempore del Plan para la Seguridad Alimentaria, Nutrición y Erradicación el Hambre de la CELAC de Colombia a Uruguay, con miras de continuar fortaleciendo las acciones de cooperación regional.
3 . Los Ministros celebraron los esfuerzos de cada país en la construcción de marcos políticos e institucionales en favor de la seguridad alimentaria y nutrición, así como reconocemos de manera especial que los avances en la implementación de los Planes SAN CELAC atienden de manera efectiva el vínculo entre los sistemas agroalimentarios, la biodiversidad, la seguridad alimentaria y la nutrición.
4. Se comprometen a continuar trabajando de manera mancomunada y articulada con el objetivo de mantener a la región a la vanguardia de la lucha contra el hambre y la cooperación regional en un contexto internacional volátil que demanda más democracia, articulación y lucha contra las injusticias y desigualdades.
Joint Communiqué of the Current and Successive Pro Tempore Presidencies of CELAC
The Ministers of Agriculture of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay and of the Republic of Colombia, Member States of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), hereby state:
1 . Within the framework of the Second International Conference on Agrarian Reform and Rural Development (ICARRD+20), the Meeting of CELAC Ministers of Agriculture was convened in Cartagena, with the objective of reaffirming the region’s commitments to food security, nutrition, the eradication of hunger, and the human right to adequate food.
2 . On that occasion, the Pro Tempore Presidency of the CELAC Plan for Food Security, Nutrition, and the Eradication of Hunger was formally transferred from Colombia to Uruguay, with a view to further strengthening regional cooperation efforts.
3. The Ministers welcomed the efforts undertaken by each country in the development of policy and institutional frameworks in support of food security and nutrition. They further recognized, in particular, that progress in the implementation of the CELAC Food Security and Nutrition (FSN) Plans effectively addresses the interlinkages among agrifood systems, biodiversity, food security, and nutrition.
4. The Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to continue working jointly and in a coordinated manner to ensure that the region remains at the forefront of the fight against hunger and of regional cooperation, in an increasingly volatile international context that calls for strengthened democracy, enhanced coordination, and decisive action against injustice and inequality.
